Look through the history of design and you will find much of what we are offered is the result of derivative thinking. Gradual progress through evolution occurs gradually, as each contributor brings a small improvement to what already exists. Taking this path of least resistance to achieve a goal is a temptation that is often too strong to ignore. There are a few who can follow an alternative path, who can truly innovate. The rewards can be true progress.
Nic Poulson is the principal designer of all Trilogy Audio Systems products. His design philosophy is the key to understanding their outstanding performance.
Instead of reworking tried and tested circuit ideas, Nic goes back to first principles: identifying the fundamental questions at the core of each issue before seeking solutions. By leaving no stone unturned and carefully addressing and optimising each design element, his goal is to produce the optimum solution to a design problem.
Nic's background was originally in broadcast engineering, training with the BBC in the eighties. The corporation's legendary high standards made a deep impression on him. He learned that the way to achieve true quality is to strive for excellence in every area and accept nothing less. He went on to found Trilogy in the nineties and quickly earned a reputation for producing designs that reflected his core values of performance, reliability, pride of ownership and value for money.
At present Nic believes that the thermionic valve remains the best amplification solution to date. Now modern manufacturing techniques and considerate circuit design mean users can expect outstanding reliability as well as outstanding sound quality from these much misunderstood but magical devices.
Several years in the making, this latest generation of Trilogy Audio Systems components remain true to our original core values. Engineered from the inside out with real heart and soul behind them, they will provide lasting satisfaction, making music for your pleasure.
